Want to know how our every Sunday morning looks like?
Here it is!
Aside from feeding the hungry tummies of children that are from poor families, we at Project Pearls also focus on the filling the children’s minds with knowledge and values. We will always believe that education and the right attitude are the best ways to get out of poverty.
This happens in both our adopted communities in Tondo and Bulacan.
In Tondo, Manila, we have our After School Program (ASP). The aim of this program is to assist our scholars and even non-scholar kids with their academic lessons. After the feeding, we have more than an hour of tutorial sessions. We have volunteers who serve as volunteer-teachers.
Student’s results in exams and attendance are also being monitored in order for us to know if they improved or what we need to do to assist them in learning. We also give rewards and special prizes to kids who performed well.
We are always in need of volunteers every Sunday! Please sign up here to join us. www.projectpearls.org/volunteer
Meanwhile, in Bulacan, we have the Mentoring Program. Every Sunday morning in our PEARLS Learning Center, our high school and college scholars dedicate their time to assist the younger scholars with their school work. Common subjects that they teach with the kids are Basic Reading and Math.
This program provides the intense academic guidance that the children need. And more importantly, the older scholars also get to hone their mentoring and teaching skills.
Sunday may be a family time or rest day to most of us and we are grateful to all our volunteers who choose to spend their Sunday morning with the kids in need.
