I spend an approximately 216 hours (9 days) with the founder of Project PEARLS during my recent visit to the Philippines. I slept no more than 40 hours the entire time. With the back to back outreach in Manila, Bulacan and Tacloban, who could sleep, right? In my case, I didn’t want to and some days, I just couldn’t.
Well, let me tell you, this wonderful woman had even less sleep than I did, than any of us. I can even tell you that she ate even less, drank even less, rested even less. While we took breaks, she made a phone call, she comforted a mother in need, hugged a child who needed attention, answered an email, responded to a text, booked a meeting and the list goes on.
I’m amazed by her dedication and sense of responsibility to what I believe sets Project PEARLS different from any other organization. Her tireless efforts goes beyond measure, its almost insane but I admire every ounce of her being. SHE LOVES TO LOVE and LOVES TO GIVE even if it means sacrificing comfort she may need, time she can’t get back and moments of “mine” she owes to herself. What’s beautiful about her is that she doesn’t even see it as a “sacrifice”, instead views this as her way of making every second count for the good of the people she is helping.
The things she has done, I know no other that can duplicate. Honor to call her my friend and humble for the opportunity to take the steps in the path of “calling” she has answered!
Happy Birthday twin! I love you!
