Nine amazing and fruitful years and nine years of a remarkable journey full of lessons, aspirations and inspirations.
We had the most amazing weekend as we celebrated PEARLS 9th anniversary in its adopted communities!
The humble beginning…
Project PEARLS started in Ulingan with just a handful of volunteers and less than 50 scholars. Now, we have adopted communities in many parts of the Philippines including Batia, Bulacan; Tondo, Manila; Zambales, Zamboanga; Guimaras and others!
Nine years ago, it was just a mother and daughter’s desire to help a single family but now, every day, we feed hundreds of kids and families!
Aside from the feeding programs, PEARLS’ mission also focuses on education and sustainable livelihood programs.
The community celebration…
Day 1 in Batia, Bulacan
For the Saturday celebration, staff, volunteers, PEARLS scholars , and supported families gathered inside St.Martha covered court for a blessed day.
We are thankful to our Bulacan community volunteers for setting everything up!
From stage decorations, to sounds and systems and for the food preparation, thank you so much Team Bulacan!
The program was started with a prayer, the singing of the National Anthem and followed by a Welcome and Thank You speech by none other than our Founder and Executive Director, Melissa Villa.
We also had some dance presentations by our LitClub kids!
The next activity was feeding by our volunteers who assisted the kids.

We had some visitors from CANVAS Philippines and they led a fun activity with storytelling time for the kids!
Children then got their book from CANVAS that illustrates children rights.

We also had some visitors from @caricaturistph for the on the spot caricature drawing for the kids and volunteers!
Before everyone went home, our Nursery scholars received a donated school bag with school supplies and raincoat from Cassie, founder of Cassie’s Bag of Dreams!

To all our guests, staffs and volunteers who joined us this morning despite the heavy rain, we thank everyone so much!
Day 2 in Helping Land, Tondo, Manila
For the Sunday celebration, guests, kids and community volunteers of Tondo, Manila were all excited!
It’s another fun day for everyone who’s been part of Project Pearls since its early days up to now.
Dancing time, games, performance presentations, smiles and laughter filled the whole courtyard for more than two hours.
Feeding followed the entertainment. Volunteers assisted the kids to get their food.

We know that we still have a long way to go!
We will never stop dreaming, believing and doing the best that we can to achieve our mission of helping the poor children and families have a better life through our daily feeding programs, the power of education made possible in part by our scholarships and livelihood projects to empower the families in our communities.
