Another moment that keeps us inspired and grateful.
Vice President Leni Robredo visited Brgy. Batia, Bocaue, Bulacan to conduct an open forum with the officials and residents.
It was an opportunity for the people to raise their concerns, and a learning experience for the government on how to properly address the challenges in relocation villages.
We are honored that VP Leni made a special stop at the PEARLS Learning Center! She met the Mothers of our scholars who are also members of “LitMoms”, a literacy program for mothers run by our partner, LitWorld.
During the visit, the Moms made heart maps – an activity where they fill up the heart with words that describe them and with words identifying who and what are important to them.
They also showed her the paper beads and doormats they make for their livelihood. VP Leni was impressed with their creativity and enthusiasm to learn! And we are even prouder of them. They used to work at the hardest working condition as charcoal packers and/or garbage scavengers in the slums of Ulingan, Tondo, Manila; but now, they are able to create better lives for them and for their families.
VP Leni also made time to interact with our adorable Nursery scholars!
The scholars entertained VP Leni with a simple and cute dance number. She was moved upon seeing the “transformation” of some of our scholars, and the Learning Center which started as a personal project by Melisa Villa in the community of Ulingan.
VP Leni came to inspire but she left very inspired by the resilience and determination of our scholars and parents. Her humility and dedication encourages us to work even harder to uplift the lives of PEARLS families.
Thank you so much again, VP Leni, for the special visit at our PEARLS Learning Center.
Again, we are very honored, humbled and very grateful!
