Brain Booster
June 11, 2016
Helping Land, Tondo, Manila, Philippines
Trivia:
The Independence Day in the Philippines was declared twice in two different dates.
First was June 12 and then July 4 and was back again on June 12.
For this day in Helping Land, we commemorate the Philippine Independence Day. We know this day is very special for us Filipinos because we then became a country that is free from all of our foreign invaders. We believe that our young generation must still know or be reiterated of what happened in the past that had a big impact on today’s time.
Feeding of our 300 PEARLS kids was the first activity.
For our Brain Booster activity, kids watched a short film about the history of our Independence Day.
After the film watching, we also had a short discussion of our National Flag, the meaning of its symbols and colors. Kids actively participated to the question and answer portion.
Different national symbols of our country were also discussed.
As a way of showing respect and gratitude to our Independence Day as well as to our country, kids were told to stand up, left hand on their right chest, and to sing our national anthem.
Coloring materials were then distributed. They colored the national flag and define the meaning of its colors.
Today’s outreach program ended when the kids lined up to get their school supplies given by our sponsors.
We would like to thank Tradewings Travel and Tours for sponsoring the food and to Girls Racer’s Club for the school supplies given to the children. Thank you so much for being such blessings to our Pearls kids.
Let’s help and support one child at a time.
To sponsor or to donate, you may reach us through our e-mail at [email protected]
Thank you!
“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done.
We will be judged by, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was naked you clothed me. I was homeless you took me in.”
