Project PEARLS Brain Booster (May 21, 2016)
At Helping Land
May 21, 2016
This was a fun day for our PEARLS kids because they’ve got to meet Kyle Jennermann or popularly known as “Kulas” of BecomingFilipino once again. This was the second time that Kulas got to visit Helping Land. His first visit happened last February 21, 2016 at the After School Program.
Kulas is a Canadian citizen, a blogger, a Youtube sensation and lives in the Philippines. Even though his nationality is a foreign one, yet he promotes the goodness of all the things about being a Filipino as well as the beauty of our country. Since the day he lived here in the Philippines, he never ceased roaming around the country, meeting people, experiencing our culture, living our way of life and exploring wonderful places that we have. He knew Project Pearls through the request of one of our volunteers, Hilary Diaz. Hilary invited him to see and visit Helping Land and he said yes.
Feeding was the first part of this day’s activity.
For today’s Brain Booster doings, younger kids aged five years old and below were given coloring materials to be busy about and some volunteers assisted them. Kulas was one of those volunteers!
While kids with the age of seven to nine were given the task of creating bookmarks out of popsicle sticks. Butterflies made of folded papers were glued on the top. They were taught how to make a butterfly through paper folding or origami.
Lastly, kids aged 10 years old and above were assigned to do a pencil holder out of popsicle sticks too.
The kids also brought the plants that were given to them last week. Job well done, kids!
Thank you so much Books For The Barrios for being our food sponsor today and of course to Kulas for being a strong advocate of Project Pearls. These people are so amazing that they can touch the hearts and change the lives of children that belong to the most bottom level of poverty of our country.
This is the link to the video that Kulas created and shared as his Running Man challenge.

He ended his Running Man Challenge dancing with the kids and volunteers. Through this video, he promoted Project Pearls and raised the awareness of Helping Land and the kind of community it is.
Through our own little ways, that we can do something big for other people.
