“We are all connected in the great circle of life.” –Mufasa, Lion King
Happy International Biodiversity Day!
As we are one with the United Nations’ International Biodiversity Day, our PEARLS kids today experienced how to be connected with one another.
After the song and dance activity which was recorded live on our facebook account,(www.facebook.com/projectpearls1) a short lesson was discussed about the importance of this day. Kids were taught the importance of existence of every creature. No matter how big or small we are; we are part of the ecosystem. Humans, animals, insects, plants and even microorganisms are all part of it. And even if one of us will get lost in the so-called chain, the whole system will be damaged and eventually will be lost too.
Each kid was given a picture of different creatures. They have to color and cut it out. Volunteers assisted the children.
And when they were done, a very long yarn was scattered around the courtyard. The kids were told to hold the string and to rise up the pictures that they have.
This activity signified that we are all really connected. That string represented life. And the kids who hold it with the pictures mean connection and importance of every living creature including the sun, water, land and air to life and to our ecosystem.
The feeding of kids was then followed.
Thank you, Ms. Mutya Pacis and family for being our sponsors and volunteers. And thanks to everyone who joined us for today’s outreach.
Everybody plays a significant role in this world and we have the capacity to make our function broader. After all, we are connected in one another so why not try to reach out and lend a hand to others as long as we can?
Let’s touch and change someone’s life for the better. Be a volunteer or sponsor now.
