PEARLS kids goes to The Exploreum

He started to join Project Pearls last June 2015 as a volunteer-teacher for the After School Program. Since then, he became a regular attendee that would go to this slum community located at the heart of Manila every Sunday morning. The first time he met these amazing kids of Helping Land, his heart has been touched and his life has been changed forever.
Being a volunteer for him just started out because of curiosity and said to his self that he will try it just for once. A friend invited him so he joined. He never thought of going back again but when he saw, heard and experienced the lives of these less fortunate “clingy” children, he found his calling. He now believes that aside from his family and friends, there’s these wonderful kids living in a not-so-good environment that badly needs him. Not only as a volunteer- teacher but as a concerned and sincere person who will guide these kids as they grow up and transform their lives for the better.
The After School Program of Project Pearls in Helping Land starts at 8 in the morning and ends at 11 a.m. A feeding program for 200 kids will be held and then will be followed by different educational activities. This is the usual routine every Sunday morning but as for this day was a bit special. The date was April 17, 2016.
Before eating, the kids sang a birthday song for teacher Chaddy. Yes, it was his special day! He then gave a short speech wishing the kids to always be good, study hard and dream to have a better life.
The kids enjoyed their meal. Thank you to our sponsors for that day! Teacher Chaddy also brought some snacks too for them!
We had to have an early dismissal because 52 selected kids will be going to The Exploreum for an educational tour. The whole trip’s expenses were all paid by Teacher Chaddy! So after the feeding activity, kids were all told to go home and the selected young ones were instructed to go back to the courtyard again after cleaning and preparing themselves for the tour.
While waiting to be completed, some of the kids used our toy library.
The day before the trip, kids’ parents or guardians have been told about the said tour and asked for their permissions.
After the roll call and assembly, we were all then ready to go to Mall of Asia! Kids’ faces were full of excitement and joy as we walked going to the highway and rode the rented vehicles that would bring us to The Exploreum.
The Exploreum is a science museum located inside the Mall of Asia in Pasay City. This child-friendly place provides a total immersion experience that will stimulate the kids’ curiosity and inspire them to learn science through fun, games and many engaging exhibits.
Upon reaching the Mall of Asia, the kids had a lunch first at Jollibee.
For three hours, the kids had a tour inside the Exploreum and learned many things related to Science such as simple machines, human body system, animals, different inventions, The Solar System, Robots, and many more!
They also experienced a short-film watching about Astronauts on a dome-theater.
The Exploreum Science Museum also let the kids experience some hands-on experiments and applications of Science in real life.
The day ended with a free loot bags for each kids sponsored again by Teacher Chaddy.
Happy, happy birthday, Chaddy Cocjin. Thank you so much for this very special day. May the Lord will bless you more for being a blessing to these kids who are close to your heart. Thank you also to the volunteers who helped in assisting the PEARLS kids.
Everyone went home bringing some new knowledge on their heads that they’ve learned and smiles on their faces because of this memorable experience.
